5 excellent New Year’s resolutions for your skin in 2022

Every January, most of us come up with a list of goals for the year ahead. These promises we make to ourselves can be about anything, from eating healthier to spending more time outside – whatever you think will make your life more enjoyable. But, what about your skin? If you want to spend more time ensuring you’re blemish-free and glowing in 2022 with skincare treatments and a well-planned routine, here are our top 5 New Year’s Resolutions.

1. Try to simplify your skincare routine

In recent years, we’ve been told to add a million different things to our skincare routines. You need to have multiple cleansers, a plethora of serums, and different moisturisers for every hour of the day – or so it seems! But, in truth, you don’t need a routine that’s overly complex. Try to cut down yours to only:

A double-cleanse
One or two serums
A moisturiser
SPF
A weekly mask or chemical exfoliant

2. Give vitamin C a try

If you haven’t tried vitamin C yet, this is the year to give it a go! Vitamin C is a fantastic ingredient for brightening skin and should leave you with a very natural, healthy glow. It’s also a powerful antioxidant so can fight the effects of pollution and free radicals on the skin, keeping ageing at bay.

3. Don’t forget your diet

Your skin relies heavily on your diet. After Christmas, it’s normal for your skin to look a little less than it’s best if you’ve indulged, but now’s the time to get it back on track. Boost antioxidant levels in your skin with plenty of fresh vegetables and focus on good fats from oily fish, nuts, and flaxseed oil. If you can keep a healthy, balanced diet, your skin will most certainly thank you for it.

4. Wear suncream daily

Suncream is your number one defence against ageing skin (that and staying out of the sun, of course). If you’re not already, make it a priority to wear suncream on your face every day in 2022, even if it’s cloudy. A mineral formulation with zinc is the best option for your skin and the planet. Apply yours as the last step of your skincare routine before applying makeup to ensure it isn’t made ineffective by other products.

5. Try to simplify your skincare routine

A monthly facial is a fantastic way to target any skincare concerns you’re dealing with. A professional will be able to assess your skin regularly, create tailored treatments to care for it and monitor progress over the months. Try to get your appointments booked in advance to prevent your diary from filling up and your skin from going uncared for.
