Be party ready with our anti-wrinkle skincare tips!

Taking good care of your skin to prevent wrinkles is a process — one that should be ramped up in winter! As the cold temperatures, winds, and lower humidity of the season rolls in, our skin has a difficult time retaining water, which can all too easily start to make it dry and irritable.

Naturally, you’ll want your skin to look it’s best, so it’s worth evaluating and adjusting your skincare routine to stay looking young and fresh!

Evaluate your current skincare routine

The first step to being party ready in winter is to determine what you’re doing regularly. Depending on the complexity of your skincare routine, you might need to dial it up.

Simple
If you’re using a three-step process (cleanse, tone, moisturiser) and you’ve noticed dry skin, we recommend two things.

Firstly, double check the ingredients on your cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. Look for alcohol, sodium chloride, and fragrances. During winter your skin will be on high alert and may be more responsive to irritants like alcohol or fragrance. Change any products you find with alcohol or other irritants to ones without. You may find the best results with ‘sensitive skin’ formulas.

Secondly, we recommend you add additional moisturising to your skincare routine. For example if you normally moisturise only at night, add another in the morning, if that still isn’t enough take your favourite moisturiser with you to work and add again at lunchtime.

Complex

Some people have rather complex skincare routines, so if you’re one of them, it may be slightly more difficult for you to determine what you need to add. If you’re using cleanser, toner, weekly hydration masks, eye cream, and moisturiser at least twice a day it’s likely we’ll need to look at extraneous factors.

You may want to consider using lukewarm water for showers and baths, drinking more water, and possibly adding a humidifier to your room. And be sure to read our how-to keep your skin hydrated this season for additional tips.

Adjust your lifestyle

There are many external factors that could be impacting your skin during autumn and winter. While you may be tempted to reach for comfort foods, avoid exercise, and take long hot showers — it may be the very thing that’s adding dryness to your skin!

Keep your skin looking young, fresh and party ready we recommend you:

You’ll also want to make sure you’re eating plenty of vegetables, fruit, and meat (if you eat it) during the season to make sure you’re getting plenty of antioxidants.

If you’re still experiencing dry skin it could be due to dry air in your home. Central heating can cause hot, dry air to circulate and it may not be doing your skin any favours. Consider adding a humidifier to your bedroom for overnight use because it will add moisture back into the air.
