How To Tell If You Have Healthy Skin
Taking care of your skin isn’t always an easy task, but a major part of dealing with emerging conditions effectively is knowing what to look for. And while you can give it the once over in a matter of seconds, at AP Skincare we’d recommend taking the time occasionally to examine it in a bit more detail. So, how can you tell if your skin is healthy?
Here are three ways to tell if you have healthy skin:
- Its colour is consistent.
- It has a smooth texture.
- It’s well-hydrated, and not dry or scratchy.
To expand upon those a little:
Your Skin Has A Consistent Colour
The consistency of colour in your skin is one of the very first things you should always look out for. Note that we’re not talking about the shade of colour itself! You can have dark skin, light skin, tanned skin…all look as amazing as each other. The point is to make sure that there aren’t any drastic changes to that shade on your skin’s surface. That means be on the lookout for blotches, exceptionally dark or light patches, and spots.
When you spot something (pun very much intended), don’t worry too much about it at first! There are lots of reasons that spots or blotchiness can occur, including reactions to a certain allergen or cosmetic ingredient. If you’re suddenly noticing unexplained blotches or spots on your skin, that might be the first place to turn.
The Smooth Texture Of Your Skin
It’s everybody’s dream to have skin that’s smooth and silky to the touch, and with a beautiful, healthy ‘glow’. The good news is, it’s a dream that’s not particularly difficult to achieve, especially with the range of specialised skincare products we stock here at AP Skincare. A dullness to your skin’s texture can be brought on by a less-than-ideal diet. Remember, almost everything you eat affects your skin, so make sure to take care of it!
Meanwhile, whiteheads, blackheads and acne are all signs that your skin is probably congested. The good news is that you can sort this out with a good moisturiser with exfoliating ingredients.
You Keep Your Skin Hydrated
No matter our background or skin type, we’ve all had to deal with dry, flaky skin at some point or another. For starters, every time winter comes around here in the UK! The popular advice given in these situations is to drink water to hydrate your skin – but while that’s good advice from a general health perspective, the water you drink tends to go to your internal organs rather than the outer layer of your skin.
