Pigmentation Treatment Guide

Deep lines on your forehead and around your lips, a loss of volume in your cheeks, and dry, sensitive skin… these are just a few of the signs of ageing and perhaps the most talked about. Pigmentation disorders are one of the signs of ageing that aren’t talked about so often. However, using a range of specialist skincare treatments, we can address the issue of pigmentation in no time. With this in mind, we’re going to be talking about the problem in today’s blog – as well as pigmentation treatments you can try.

What is pigmentation?

Technically speaking, pigmentation simply refers to the colour of your skin. When you hear skincare experts use it, though, it’s sometimes being used as a shorthand for hyperpigmentation, which is the excessive (and therefore harmful) discolouration of your skin, as a result of exposure to UV rays and the sun. It’s probably best recognised as those uneven brown patches and ageing dark spots on your skin. These discoloured, darker patches develop when UVA stimulates your pigment cells to make Melanin. Worst of all, sun spots can take 10-20 years to develop, meaning you may not know the damage you’re doing to your skin until it’s far too late. Our tip? Stop sunbathing now – and if you are out and about in the sun, always wear high factor sun cream.

Our Pigmentation Treatments

At AP Skincare, we offer Pigmentation Treatments tailored to your exact skin type. Every single one of our clients receives a treatment designed for their skin, to ensure maximum benefit.

At your AP Skincare appointment, we’ll carry out an analysis of your skin, to determine the best treatment for you. If you have a paler skin tone, we’re likely to recommend a combination of skincare products, chemical peels and laser treatments. For darker skin tones, we’re likely to recommend a specially designed set of skincare products and our EDermaroller Collagen Therapy. This is because Asian and darker skin tones typically react to peels and microdermabrasion, making them unsuitable.

Of course, the combination of treatments, as described above, is just a guideline. Your final prescription will be decided when we assess your skin and can make a decision on which treatments will be best suited to you.

The results

At AP Skincare, our products and treatments are top-of-the-range. We offer the best in skincare products, not available on the high street, and carefully research each and every product used in all our treatments. This ensures that you are left with glowing, youthful, healthy skin and a treatment to remember – for all the right reasons!

With our Pigmentation Treatments, the results won’t be immediate because of the growth cycles of our skin. In fact, it may take a year to see your skin make the desired changes – so it’s worth bearing in mind that you’ll need to be patient. We’ll advise which treatments you need and when, tailoring a course of treatments especially for you. We also take pre and post photos, so you can see you skin change over the year-long period.
