What is a Dental Plan (from Denplan)?

A dental plan like Denplan makes dental treatment easy to afford. Your dentist will work out the costs of the treatment you need.

You will then be given a monthly fee to cover those costs. Plans can cover any of a range of treatments, such as check-ups, x-rays and hygienist visits.

A Denplan payment plan is tailored to you. There is no reason to pay for work you don’t need.

Why would you? With a dental payment plan from Denplan, your dentist projects what treatments you are likely to need. The treatment costs are set out and you pay a monthly fee to cover the work.

FAQs

How are my monthly Denplan fees set?
Your monthly fees are set by your dental practice and ensure they maintain the high quality of care you receive. They take into account many factors, such as the increased cost of equipment, staff training, and building maintenance, among others. Your monthly payment is also based on your individual dental health and determined on the care and treatment your dentist expects to provide you over the next 12 months. If you have any concerns over your monthly fees please speak to your registered practice.
Why does my amount show an added payment for Supplementary insurance?
This optional insurance hasn’t been added to your plan and has been included in Denplan payment plans since the 1980s. The only difference is that, since the insurance was made optional in 2018, we wanted to make sure that you could see exactly how much of your monthly Denplan fee goes to this insurance cover. That’s why your fee table now shows a separate cost for insurance.
How can I update my details?
Just log in at My Denplan to update your details online. While you’re there you can also download and print a history of your payments and submit insurance claims. You will need your Paygroup ID, which you can find on page 1 of your Fee Rate Mailing booklet, the surname and date of birth of the policy holder.
What do I do in a dental emergency?
If you’re within 40 miles of your dental practice, call them and seek help from your registered dentist.
If you’re more than 40 miles away from your dental practice and you have Denplan Supplementary Insurance, you can call our 24 hour helpline on 0800 844 999, or +44 1962 844 999 if you’re abroad.
Is there a notice period if I ever wish to cancel my Denplan payments?
If you would like to cancel your plan we always suggest you speaking to your dentist first as they are providing your dental care. Your dentist will be able to go though the best options to benefit your dental needs.
If you wish to cancel, we require a 21 day notice period to cancel, please go to www.denplan.co.uk/patients/your-options which will guide you through your options that may be available to you. Please be aware that your options will depend on what your specific dental practice offers .You will need your Paygroup ID, which you can find on page 1 of your Fee Rate Mailing booklet, the surname and date of birth of the policy holder.
How does my plan work?
Your Denplan payment plan spreads the cost of your routine dental care for the year across 12 months, so you can come to your appointments with the confidence that you’ve already paid. The Denplan payments are passed directly to your registered dentist. If you have opted in to the Supplementary Insurance you will have cover for emergency treatment out of hours, dental injuries as well as many other benefits.
Are dental practices offering refunds when the practice was shut?
The contract you have is held between you and your dentist, and your payment plan is tailored depending on your dentist’s assessment of your oral health. To cover you for all the annual treatment that falls under your plan, we pass your monthly fee on to your dentist.
Because of this, if you have any queries regarding your contract or your payments, please call your practice who will be able to help. Please be aware that we are unable to refund your monthly payments without your dentist directly giving us authorisation to do so.
