Getting out in the sun is good for your health and wellbeing. The sunshine not only gives you that burst […]
Read MoreThe flights and hotel are booked, your holiday clothes packed and you’re counting down the days until you step off the plane and the heat washes over you – how exciting!
When you go away it’s easy throw your normal skincare products in the case and call it a day, without even sparing it a second thought, but to keep your skin dewy, hydrated and most importantly protected while you’re on your holidays you’re going to want to add in a few extras on top of your classics. To help you get that holiday glow, here’s essentials you’re going to want to take with you on your trip!
If you’ve read any of our other blogs about our skincare holy grails, you’ll know that we always talk about how important SPF is for your skin, even when you’re indoors. It’s a non-negotiable. In fact, we wrote an entire blog on just this topic.
Now, if wearing SPF daily and reapplying multiple times a day is that important here in the UK, imagine how important it is somewhere hot or even tropical. It’s a golden rule of skincare. The NHS recommends factor 30 as a minimum when you’re on holiday to make sure to take extra care if you:
One of the best ways to give your skin that youthful, plump look on holiday is with a fast-absorbing, lightweight and cooling moisturiser. Look for one that is fragrance-free and gentle on the skin and, ideally, one with an SPF of 30 or above, especially if you’re going out in the evening while it’s still sunny. Remember to apply it in the morning and in the evening/before bed to keep your skin looking healthy and glowy. For an extra layer of hydration, consider a hydrating face mask with antioxidants to help with any dryness you may have experienced from the journey. Your skin will definitely thank you!
Sunburn can quickly spoil your holiday. And, while you should always try to avoid it, everyone gets sunburnt every now and then – it happens to the best of us. But what you do to soothe those burns can have a massive effect on the condition it leaves your skin in.
Aloe vera gel is a soothing, natural remedy that helps cool and heal sunburns. Its remarkable ability to calm redness and inflammation makes it an essential product for anyone going abroad this year. The pure form of aloe vera gel, without added fragrances or dyes is best as it offers the most gentle and effective relief. It can even prevent your skin from cracking and peeling (which is one way to keep your tan intact). Aloe vera is amazing for your skin even if you’re not sunburned; it’s an all-around holiday essential, in our opinion.
It’s no secret that travelling dehydrates your skin – especially recycled aeroplane air and dry heat. Adding a hyaluronic acid serum into your holiday skincare routine can help give your skin that extra boost of hydration it needs this summer. Plus, it’s not holiday exclusive; it’s great for everyday use, too. Hyaluronic acid works by attracting and holding onto moisture from any other products you put on, as well as the water in the air, keeping your skin looking plump and moist. Apply the serum after cleansing and before using your moisturiser. Do this every day of your trip, and you’ll have gorgeous skin in all your poolside pictures.
